Put storm reports in their roofing context

A storm date can be useful when you are trying to remember when a roof problem began. It becomes less useful if a nearby report is presented as proof of what happened on your street. This collection keeps the reported place and its offset visible alongside the event.

Use the year and event filters to explore the defined NOAA collection. Then bring the roofing concern itself into the conversation: a lifted shingle, a new stain or damage you noticed from the ground. Weather records provide context; the roof inspection establishes the work to consider.

Reported storms near Southlake

This collection includes every hail or thunderstorm-wind entry in the NOAA detail files for 2020–2025 whose beginning or ending location is Southlake, Grapevine, Colleyville or Westlake in Tarrant or Denton County. Files were checked September 30, 2026.

The rule returns 17 records. One uses a Southlake reference; the others use nearby reference locations, including airport wind observations. Distances and directions are NOAA’s offsets from those named places, not a claim that the point falls within that city. These are six complete calendar years; partial 2026 records are outside this collection.

What storm reports tell a roof inspection

A report can help organize the timing of a concern. The roof still needs its own assessment of the covering, connections and surrounding condition.

A date and a recorded observation

The entries establish what NOAA recorded at a named location and time. Some wind values are measured and others estimated; hail records can come from public or other reports. Their observation types are not interchangeable.

An inspection question

If you noticed missing covering or water entry after a storm, tell us when it appeared. The inspection can look at the affected roofing and consider that history.

Read the reported locations

Use each named reference point and its direction and distance to place the observation. Bring that weather history to the inspection alongside what changed on your roof.

Storm record FAQs

Why are Grapevine and airport observations included?

The collection intentionally includes named nearby reference locations to put regional conditions in view. Each entry retains its NOAA location and offset. An airport gust is labeled as such and is not presented as a measurement at a Southlake house.

Why do some years have no entries?

The selection rule returned no matching 2021 records. That means no rows matched these event types, counties and named locations in the selected files; it does not mean the area had no storms that year.

Is the collection current through today?

It covers complete calendar years 2020–2025 using the file revisions available when checked September 30, 2026. NOAA records can be added or revised. It is a dated reference collection, not a live alert feed.

Can these records establish an insurance claim?

They can provide weather context, but the roof condition, cause of loss and policy still need separate assessment. The roof insurance guide explains those different decisions.
